Auckland Schools Debating’s offers two high-performance squads to the regions top debaters.
Auckland Schools Debating’s top high-performance program is the Development Squad. The squad is made up of 12 high school debaters in Year 12 and below who have shown potential to become regional or national debating representatives. Coached regularly by former regional or national debaters, the squad extends participants with new skills, strategies and approaches while providing personal development to the region’s top aspiring speakers. Entry to the Development Squad is by invitation only.
A new part of Auckland Schools Debating’s high-performance program is the Futures Squad. This squad is composed of 24 high school debaters from Year 9 to 11 who have shown strong foundational skills and would benefit from regular coaching. The squad provides students from all backgrounds with the coaching to reach the highest level of Auckland Schools Debating through selection to the Development Squad or Regional teams. Entry to the Futures Squad is by invitation only.
