In addition to the members of the ASD Committee who adjudicate, the following people also adjudicate ASD debates in the Advanced Open and Premier Grades.

| Baxter, Josh | Josh has had an extremely successful debating career both at high school and university. He was a member of the Auckland representative team in 2009, and travelled to Qatar to represent NZ in February 2010 at the Schools World Championships. Moreover, he has broken at several national and international tournaments, including the University World Championships and the Australasian Championships. He was also the coach of the winning Waikato regional team at Nationals in 2011. |
| Bennett, Briony | Briony is a valuable member of the University of Auckland Debating Society. She has competed in numerous national tournaments and is a NZUDC accredited adjudicator. Briony has also judged schools debating in 2010 and 2011. |
| Bishop, Chris | Chris is a distinguished debater who was a member of the New Zealand Schools Debating Team in 2000 and 2001. He has won numerous national University tournaments for the Victoria University of Wellington, and has been named a top ten speaker at the Australasian Intervarsity Champsionships as well as breaking at the World Debating Championships. Christopher is currently the President of the New Zealand Schools’ Debating Council. |
| Bookman, Miriam | Miriam was a member of the St Kents team which won Auckland regionals and made the semi finals of the Premier Advanced grade in 2009. Since then, she has become a prominent member of the Auckland University debating society, competing in a number of national tournaments. She is currently studying law and arts at Auckland University. |
| Broderick, Kirsty | Kirsty is an esteemed University and Schools debater. In 2011, she was selected to compete for Auckland University at the prestigious New Zealand Prepared Debating Championships. She is currently studying Law at Auckland University and is a prominent member of the University of Auckland Debating Society. |
| Cooper, Mitchell | Mitchell has had a distinguished debating career since being a member of the New Zealand Schools Debating Team in 2005. He has continued to debate at university, has coached the Northland representative debating team and adjudicated extensively for ASD. |
| Conder, Tim | Tim is a committed university debater, who made the final of the North Island Amateur University Championships in 2010. He regularly debates and adjudicates for the University of Auckland Debating Society. Tim adjudicated for ASD in the Premier Junior grade in 2011. |
| Craft, Verity | Verity experienced success at a schools level by winning Auckland Regionals in 2006, and was selected to represent Auckland at the National Championships. She was also a member of the National Championship winning team in 2006. Verity has continued to debate at university level, representing University of Auckland at intervarsity tournaments. |
| Dunn, Alison | Alison became more involved in debating after joining university, competing for the University of Auckland Debating Society at national and international tournaments. She has held many positions on their Executive and adjudicates at both university and schools level. |
| Hall, Ralph | Ralph has been an ASD adjudicator from 2008 as a frequent face around the Advanced Open grade. He has debated at university tournaments, been an officer on the University of Auckland Debating Society Executive and adjudicated at university level. |
| Harrison, Lucy | Lucy has had a stellar debating career so far. In 2010 and 2011, she was selected as a member of the Auckland debating squad which competed at the New Zealand Schools Debating Championships, and in 2011 she was selected as a reserve to the New Zealand Schools Debating Team. Her Mount Albert Grammar School team also won both Auckland regionals and the Premier Advanced competition in 2011. Lucy is currently studying law and arts at Auckland University. |
| Hollings, Caitlin | Caitlin Hollings is an up and coming debater. In her final year at high school, she won the Advanced Premier grade for Diocesan school. Since then, she has competed in both debating and other activities associated with oratory at university. She is an aspiring lawyer who won the Auckland Bell Gully Junior Moot, and is part of Auckland’s squad attending the New Zealand Impromptu Debating Championships this year. |
| Horton, Desley | Desley will be familiar to many of you in the ASD competition. Desley is a past chairperson of ASD, having been instrumental in establishing the ASD competition as a founding committee member. | Langdana, Rayhan | Rayhan is Auckland University’s brightest debating import. Originally residing in Wellington, Rayhan won Wellington regionals in 2011 for Wellington College, and was selected for the Wellington regional team. Later that year, he was selected for the New Zealand Schools Debating Team which competed and broke in Dundee in 2011 and Cape Town in 2012. Rayhan is also a successful adjudicator and coach. He coached the Wellington Junior Premier team to win the Junior Prem title in Wellington, and also adjudicated junior grade debating in Wellington. |
| Leung, Jade | Jade has been a prominent schools debater since 2008. In 2011, she was selected for the St Cuthbert’s Premier Advanced team and made the semi-finals at Auckland regionals and the quarter finals of the Premier Advanced Grade. Jade is also an accomplished scholar. In her final year at St Cuths, she was selected for the New Zealand chemistry Olympiad team where she won a bronze medal. |
| Lin, Max | Max first became involved with debating at schools level and has continued to debate at university. He is a member of the University of Auckland Debating Society Executive, travelled to the Philippines for the World Universities Debating Championship, and was named a reserve at the North Island Amateur Debating Championships |
| MacDonald, Andrew | Andrew has held positions on the University of Auckland Debating Society, debated in numerous local and national tournaments, even winning the Development Cup in 2008. Andrew has adjudicated for ASD since 2008. |
| Mills, Kate | Kate Mills has debated both at school and university, representing the University of Auckland Debating Society at both national and international tournaments. She has served for multiple years on the Debating Society Executive, coached the Northland schools team and adjudicated for ASD. |
| Milsom, Ben | Ben began his debating career at schools level as a member of the Auckland representative debating team. He has coached an Auckland representative team, and adjudicated extensively for schools debating in Waikato and Auckland. In 2011, Ben made the final of the New Zealand Impromptu Debating Championships, judged the final of the Australasian Debating Championships and was a selector at the New Zealand Prepared Debating Championships. |
| Nelson, Rupert | Rupert was a prominent schools debater. While competing for Auckland Grammar, he reached the final of Auckland Regionals in 2007 and won the ISAY Advanced Open grade in 2006 and 2007. He now studies medicine at Auckland University, and is a NZUDC accredited adjudicator who has judged at numerous national and international tournaments. |
| Newfield, Aria | Aria has been heavily involved in schools debating, and represented Auckland at the National Championships in 2009 where she was selected as a member of the New Zealand team that competed in the World Schools Debating Championships in February 2010. At university, Aria has broken at the Australasian Championships twice and was made a member of the New Zealand team at the New Zealand Prepared Debating Championships in 2010. She currently coaches the Northland regional team. |
| Nolan, Rory | After winning the Auckland Regional competition in 2009, Rory was selected to represent Auckland at the 2009 National Championships where he was a semi-finalist. He was selected as reserve to the NZ Schools Debating Team. At university, Rory has competed at several national tournaments, and is an esteemed judge for the Debating Society. |
| Orr, Nick | Nick is an outstanding schools debater. In 2010, when Nick was only in sixth form, he was selected for the Auckland squad to compete in Wellington at debating nationals. At the same tournament, he was selected for the New Zealand Schools Debating Team. In 2011, Nick was selected as the captain of the New Zealand Schools Debating Team to compete in Cape Town, South Africa. Nick has also achieved considerable success in ASD run tournaments. In 2011, Nick reached the final of the Advanced Premier Grade, and won the Impromptu Cup in late September. |
| Penn, Brierley | Brierley began her debating career at schools level, where she was a member of the Central North Island regional team in 2008. She now attends Auckland University, where she has competed in a number of international and national tournaments. Brierley is currently on the executive for the University of Auckland Debating Society and has been a selector for the Waikato Debating Society. |
| Polaschek, Rosie | Rosie is a successful schools debater from Wellington. She is now an accomplished member of the university of Auckland debating society, and broke last year to the semi finals of the North Island Amateur Debating Championships. |
| Prendergast, Michael | Michael is an extremely successful schools debater. In both 2010 and 2011, Michael was a member of the winning Kerikeri High School team at Northland regionals. In 2011, Michael was named Best Speaker for the tournament. Michael was also selected for the Northland regional team in both 2010 and 2011, and was subsequently selected in the New Zealand development team in 2010. At university level, Michael has been selected to represent Auckland University at the New Zealand University Impromptu Debating Championships. |
| Riddell, Craig | Craig has been involved in debating since high school, representing Central North Island at the National Championships in 2005 and 2006, and travelling to Wales with the New Zealand Schools Debating Team in 2006. He has continued his illustrious debating career at Auckland University, where he has broken at numerous national and international tournaments. |
| Riddell, Glenn | Glenn is a distinguished debater and adjudicator who has represented both his region at schools level and the University of Auckland Debating Society nationally and internationally. He has coached Northland and Auckland schools teams and is an accredited university adjudicator. |
| Rose, Callum | After winning the Hawke’s Bay Regional Schools Competition in 2010, Callum was selected to represent Hawke’s Bay at a national level. He has continued to debate at university, reaching the final of the North Island Amateur Championships, and currently serves as a member of the University of Auckland Debating Society’s Executive. |
| Ruddell, James | James' involvement with debating began at school where he successfully won the Russell McVeagh Regionals with his team. James has gone on to debate and adjudicate at university. In 2009 he was the treasurer for the University of Auckland Debating Society Executive, and in 2010 he competed at the Australasian Debating Championships held in Auckland. |
| Ryan, Claire | We are exceptionally fortunate to have adjudicators such as Claire willing to assist us with ASD.Ê Claire is the Auckland regionÕs most eminent adjudicator. Aside from an exceptionally successful debating career herself, Claire has adjudicated at every possible level Ð local, regional, national and international level. She has contributed many hours to debating in New Zealand Ð coaching, selecting and adjudicating and in 2009 she was the Secretary of the World Schools Debating Council Executive Committee. |
| Schumacher, Gretta | Many of you will recognize Gretta as an ASD Committee member in 2010 and 2011. Gretta served as the Junior Open convenor and coached the Auckland development squad in 2010, and assumed the roles of Secretary and convenor of Advanced Open in 2011. Gretta has also had a stellar university debating career. In 2010, she was named the second best female speaker in Australasia and in 2011 she reached the final of the New Zealand Impromptu Debating Championships. |
| Senior, Patrick | Like most of the adjudicators for ASD Patrick began debating at school, winning the Russell McVeagh Regional competition. He continued debating at university and since then has attended national and international tournaments as well as serving on the University of Auckland Debating Society Executive. |
| Shen, John | John debated at high school and has continued his debating career at the University of Auckland. He has represented the Society at multiple national tournaments, and adjudicated at both school and University tournaments including the Australasian Intervarsity Championships in Auckland in 2009. |
| Silver, Amy | Amy is one of our most experienced adjudicators, having adjudicated for ASD over a number of years. Amy is also a University accredited adjudicator. |
| Srikumar, Bhavin | Bhavin is an accomplished schools debater who reached the final of Premier Junior in 2009, Premier Advanced in 2011 and won the Impromptu Cup in 2011. At Auckland regionals in 2011, Bhavin was selected for the Auckland squad to compete at debating nationals in Wellington. He is currently studying biomedical science at Auckland University. |
| Storey, Jess | Jess was heavily involved in ASD debating while at school. In 2010 Jess was a member of the St Cuthbert's team that won both the Russell McVeagh Auckland Regionals tournament and the ASD Premier Advanced Grade. Jess was selected as a member of the Auckland team which made the Grand Final at Nationals. At university, she is a NZUDC accredited adjudicator and she has broken at the Australasian Debating Championships in 2011. |
| Stubbing, Rebecca | Rebecca is a well known schools debater. In 2011, she was selected for the St Cuthbert’s Premier Advanced team and made the quarter finals of the Premier Advanced Grade. She has also coached and judged St Cuthbert’s College internal debating competition. This year, she is studying law at Auckland University. |
| Tushingham, Mark | Mark will be familiar to many of you as an ASD Committee member and Treasurer in 2009 and 2010. |
| Upadhyay, Nupur | Nupur is the current president of the University of Auckland Debating Society and was previously the President of the New Zealand Universities Debating Council. Nupur is an accredited university adjudicator and has extensive coaching experience - coaching St Cuthbert's to the Auckland Regionals title in 2010, coaching Northland in 2010, and Auckland White in 2011. She also broke to the quarter finals of the World Debating Championships in 2011. |
| Vasudevan, Aditya | Aditya was selected as a member of the Waikato schools regional team in 2010. Since then, he has competed and judged at a number of university tournaments. Aditya competed in the prestigious Joynt Scroll debating championships in 2011, and was a successful participant at Auckland University’s inaugural Auckland IV debating championships. |
| Ward, Brad | Brad's debating success began at school, where he won Auckland Regionals, and continued throughout university, where he was a member of top-ranked Auckland teams on numerous occasions. He is also an accomplished judge; he is NZUDC accredited, has judged multiple finals rounds of New Zealand tournaments, has broken as a judge at the Australasian Debating Championships, and of course has judged multiple ASD finals rounds in the top grades. As the coach of breaking Auckland Representative Schools teams, Brad is well-placed to give speakers feedback, and as a founding member of the ASD Committee, he has an extensive understanding of the ASD competition. ASD is very lucky to have Brad judge for us this year. |
